With its many gatherings and cocktails, the holiday season is the perfect reason to wear sophisticated hair and makeup, be playful or try new looks and trends.
Here we are compiling some of our favorite makeup trends for this winter, for your holiday look inspiration:
This year has been all about natural-looking, glowy skin. And what a better way to close the year looking radiant and fresh by using a moisturizing, lightweight foundation. Finish the look by adding an extra glow with a highlighter wherever the light naturally reflects on your face. Make sure to prep your skin before makeup so smooth on your favorite serum, moisturizer, and primer.
Feathery brow with laminated effect has been on trend for a while now. Gone are the days where heavy, super-defined Instabrows rocked the makeup scene. This look has been used on editorial makeup for years and it was achieved by running a spoolie brush through clear, low PH soap and then brushing brows upward to get this natural, feathery look. Nowadays you can easily find a special soap specifically designed for this purpose. Make sure to take care of your brows first before moving on to the rest of your makeup routine. With this effect you can keep the brow liner at a minimum, since you just need to lightly fill some spots with light strokes, to shape the eyebrow if needed.
It is possible to get this so on-trend almond shape eye without damaging your skin with tapes or a brow lift? Yas! You can give your eyes this slightly elongated almond shape, only with the help of makeup. Smoke out your eyeshadow outwards, stretching it to the outer corner of your eye. Finish the look with a thin, winged eyeliner applied slightly upwards and then stretch it to the inner corner of your eye, very thin. You can use eyeshadow and the smaller brush you find to extend to the inner corner. You will be surprised how just a little dark line in the inner corner of the eye will create the almond effect.
Winged eyeliner and red lips are a classic combo for the holidays. Trends come and go but this pair is always a winner. Bold and winged eyeliner is perfect if you don’t want to go too dark or smoky on the eyes but still accentuate them. A light shimmer is all you need to brighten the eyes and refresh this classic look.
If don’t want to go too bright on the lips or too shimmery on the eyes, play it up a little bit and swap the red for a light burgundy and a soft earthy tone matte eyeshadow and blush to warm up the look.
If you are feeling creative, take your eye makeup to the next level and go for a graphic eyeliner with 60´s vibes. You can use only a graphic eyeliner or do the banana shape with eyeshadow and play with some bold colors, glitter, and embellishments. This look is perfect for when you have to wear a mask, as all the attention is accentuated on the eyes.
Yes, we have seen dramatic and winged eyeliner on trend and we love it! but a barely-there eyeliner is timeless. This is perfect to give the eyes definition if you are opting for a very natural and refined makeup look.
Upgrade the classic smoky with some colored, metallic eyeshadow and go on a new level of bold dimension.
